Manuel Obregon


Born on January 22, 1971 in San José, Costa Rica. Graduated from the Castella Conservatory in 1987. He studied in the youth program of the National Symphony Orchestra with Bismark Fernandez.

He has been a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica.

He has also accompanied musicians such as Paquito D’ Rivera and Victor Monge (Serranito), Abraham Laboriel, Álvaro López, Justo Almario, Diego Urcola, Luis Enrique Mejía, Luba Mason, Perrozompopo, Armando Manzanero, León Gieco, Aterciopelados, among others. In Costa Rica he has participated with groups and artists such as: Kool Jazz, Marfil, Gaviota, Cantoamérica, Probus Ensamble, the Latin Jazz Sextet, Arnoldo Castillo, María Prétiz, Adrián Goizueta, Bernardo Quesada, Marta Fonseca, Balerom, among others.

He has been part of the recording of more than 50 record productions. Among them “Tiempos” and “Mundo” by Rubén Blades, which won three Grammys, as well as all the productions of Grupo Éditus and Malpaís.
